FEATURED: Axle Creek – The Journey Home

Music Morsels Review

Sometimes it is refreshing to hear bands who just like to play rock and roll, and not spend a lot of time reinventing the wheel. Axle Creek is one of those bands, and while they are not necessarily carving out any new musical ground, what they do in their own niche of blues and country-fueled rock and roll is crafted very well.

FEATURED: Axle Creek ‘Saved My Life’

For the Country Record

Country/rock outfit Axle Creek consists of Bob Carey and Randy Porter, taking influence from the likes of Zac Brown Band, Bob Seger, and even AC/DC (Sammy Hagar). With Randy on vocals, that classic rock gravelly tone lies on top of sweet country twang (although some of their songs are heavier than others).

The Test Drive: Axle Creek – The Journey Home

Axle Creek has a new album coming out on January 27, 2015 called The Journey Home. Being a guitarist myself, I find the layered blend of stringed instruments as well as the songwriting of Bob Carey in concert with the rugged yet soothing vocals of Randy Porter become a perfect example of where rock, blues, country, and Americana are seamlessly melding together while paying their tributes to that which is America. Check out these previews and see for yourself.

Axle Creek: The Journey Home

By Workman Production’s – Ryan Golding

Passion drives this debut album by local band Axle Creek. “The Journey Home” is the band’s first complete album. The band draws heavily from rock and country influences which creates an interesting blend.

The blasting vocals feel comfortable with the heavier band behind. And with interesting lyrics it seldom feels repetitive. Impressive guitar licks are strung about a few songs and each one fits the moment. The rest of the band keeps a neat tempo and they sound comfortable with each other.
